About Me

Hi, I am Emma Williams and originally from Chester, England. I grew up around art, planes, bikers and animals, especially cats but drawing was my obsession. I went to a few primary schools including one next to Chester Zoo and it is was what got me fascinated in animals; that and The Lion King! As a child I could act out the whole movie and knew every word, it still is one of my favourite movies ever.

When it was time for me to go to high school, I went to St Davids College in Llandudno and my life totally changed! I learned so much there and my convidence grew and my experiences went through the roof! Every evening I would be kayaking, rock climbing, horse riding or doing some other activity. It was also there where I found my path to Character Animation thanks to my CAD teacher. I was praised as the best in the class for CAD (Computer Aided Design) and even got 3 qualifications in it but I missed the creativity that my art gave me so he suggested I look at animation. I had never thought about it before even though I have always been a big fan of animation; it was just what I had been looking for.

So in 2006 after a gap year working at Halfords and volunteering at a children's playgroup I went to the University of Huddersfield to study Virtual Reality Design with Animation. It hadn't been what I'd hoped but I made many friends and learned a lot. I also became a Student Rep and the President of the university motorcycle club, which involved arranging a rally for over 100 bikers!

In 2010 I graduated and decided to do some extra courses with Animated Yorkshire and Escape Studios. I have also still been a Graphic Designer for a company called Living Magazine that makes magazines for local communities around Chester and North Wales. I also recently did a temporary job as a Receptionist for a company called Awakening Beauty that does beauty treatments and laser hair removal, it was wonderful hearing how customers came in and said how lovely and helpful I was on the phone to them. Making people happy, makes me happy :)

It might seem like I do a lot and I do but I like to keep busy; the is nothing like always being kept on your toes!

I am now looking for a new job as I have been with Living Magazine for over 7 years. I am looking for a position where I can express my creative flair and expand my experiences and skills.

Plans for the Future
At the moment I am looking for work in the creative industry whether it is in Graphic Design or in the Animation/VFX industry and hope to stay at a company for at least a few years so as to learn, gain experience and give back to the company with all my skills and commitment. During this I am planning to study with animationateam.com and Animation Mentor in my spare time, while also practising animation.

My Interests
Animation, Drawing, Animals, Documentaries, Motorbikes, Motorsports, Rallies, Kayaking, Archery, Hockey, Camping, Reading, TV/Films, Music and Audiobooks. I also like going to Zoo's, Farms and parks to expand my portfolio of animal and people life drawings and movement sketches.
